Ten on Ten: November 2011

November 10, 2011

And here we are again! So excited to see what my group of ten has cooked up this month. Follow around the circle with me! I’m linking to Jenn Duguay from the North.

Some of mine might look a little familiar if you’ve stopped at Nicki’s page–we were together the day we took our pictures.

Ten on Ten: October 2011

October 11, 2011

I continue to love this ten on ten project–-a passionate group of ten lovely and amazing photographers from the United States and Canada taking ten images, one hour apart on one day out of the month, documenting life as it happens around them. On the tenth of every month, we post our ten images, and if you follow our links, you’ll make it around the whole circle of ten. Enjoy.

This month I’m linking to a friend from the north: Jenn Duguay. Enjoy her view of the world!

October 10, 2011, Mount Desert Island, Maine (with a side trip to Islesford, Maine)

High temperature: 80 degrees

Morning, and one of my favorite outdoor showers anywhere. Nestled in a pine grove, it was handmade, and is one of my favorite parts of our friends’ house.

Henry foraged for the last few cherry tomatoes before breakfast, and then ate them.

On Somes Sound, on the way to Islesford (Little Cranberry Island).

A perfect day at the beach for Henry includes finding at least one piece of rusty metal. He hit the jackpot at this spot!

Have you ever seen such a sweet little sea star? It was stuck on the dock, like a little craft project.

Yes, the sky was really that color.

Homeward bound.

Somes Sound. Water temperature in August? Probably not above 60 degrees. In October? Brrrr!

Found some slightly warmer water an hour later at Long Pond. Air temp, 80 degrees.

Time for dinner and dessert.

P.S. Don’t hate me—my life isn’t nearly this idyllic! I picked a blissful vacation day with good friends in a beautiful place to document my ten on ten. Maybe next month I will show you the laundry pile after this trip!

Ten on Ten: September 2011

September 10, 2011

Imagine my surprise when I realized I hadn’t posted a single thing here since my last ten on ten–that’s what end of summer and hurricanes will do to you.

I have posted plenty on my Hank & Willie tumblr blog–perfect for iPhone photos on the go!

I also have  lots of new client images on Facebook at Anna Sawin Photography, and lots more to come when I get through my next editing marathon!

But more importantly, I continue to love this project, ten on ten–a passionate group of ten lovely and amazing photographers from the United States and Canada taking ten images, one hour apart on one day out of the month, documenting life as it happens around them. On the tenth of every month, we post our ten images, and if you follow our links, you’ll make it around the whole circle of ten. Enjoy.

This month I’m linking to my dear friend Melissa–see her ten on ten at

These images were taken on Tuesday, September 8, 2011. Our oldest was finally headed back to school–he had been due to start the previous Wednesday, but Hurricane Irene had other plans. The drenching rains on this day were the remains of Tropical Storm Lee, the storm that brought such devastating flooding to the mid-Atlantic area.

School supplies! I love school supplies.

Someone is really excited about getting ready for school! Will, age seven.

The bus stop crew this year, plus Henry who has one more year to go.

The cucumbers just keep coming. No complaints in this house.

What we AREN’T doing today for the first time in days. They have been boogie boarding and skim boarding for hours each day.

School work for Henry on this rainy day. He starts kindergarten tomorrow, but he’s been working on letters while Will does his summer reading.

Rain, rain, that’s okay! Mom and Henry toe to toe–off to the apple and peach orchard we go!

With a stop at Clyde’s Cider Mill on the way home, the traditional first day of school snack!

The big kids are gone for a long day!

Second grade success!

Missing our lovely nursery school, our first year without a child there since 2007. What a happy, magical place it is.

August 9, 2011

So…with the amazing help I had onsite from Dallas Galbreath and Eden Long, we were able to host a photobooth at this rocking party!

This crowd knew EXACTLY what to do with a photobooth, as you’ll see below.

The photobooth, in one slide show!

Jackie + Adam: Married at Guilford Yacht Club, Guilford CT (Part 1)

August 8, 2011

The gorgeous New England summer weather on the day Jackie and Adam married mirrored them as a couple–beautiful, breezy, warm and wonderful. With the gorgeous Guilford Yacht Club as a backdrop, and minions of loving family and friends around, “Team Awesome” (also known as Jackie and Adam) had a great day indeed!

For the highlights of their day, watch their slide show here.

(And look for part 2, the photobooth slide show, tomorrow!)

Julie + Seth: Married on Block Island

August 3, 2011

Julie and Seth were married on a rainy and windy June day on Block Island, but they embraced the weather and even held their ceremony outside at the Block Island’s grand Spring House Hotel–it was wonderful!

Scott Westervelt, a whizz with a needle, plies his art.

The INDOOR shoes. Gorgeous.

Seth taking in the view as he awaits the first glimpse of his bride.

Down at Southeast Light on Block Island, umbrella in hand.

With nephew in darling seersucker suit before the ceremony.

The iconic Spring House Hotel. The porches came in handy!

This stunner came from Sin, in Providence. I love their website:

This is why rain is NEVER a bad thing.

Happy love, Julie and Seth! We had such a great day with you!

Angela + Doug: Married on Cape Cod (slideshow)

June 27, 2011

Angela and Doug were married last month on Cape Cod at a divine, heartfelt ceremony on what turned into a gorgeous, early summer day. (See sneak peek here.) These two are so beautifully connected and SO in love that I think everyone around them feels a little more lovey-dovey than usual! So when I was putting together their slideshow, I was just dying to use this song that suits them SO well, Fallen by Lauren Wood.

Here is your slideshow, Angela and Doug!

Happy love!

Stephanie + Marcos: Engagement session at Brown University

June 24, 2011

Stephanie and Marcos came from New York last week to meet me in Providence, RI, home of their alma mater, Brown.  It was the kind of summer night you just dream of–warm, sunny and going on forever. These two shared a picnic, an iced coffee at Starbucks on Thayer Street and some great nostalgic moments on the green.

Thanks for a great night, you two–can’t wait to share them all!

Stephanie and Marcos are getting married in September at Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington–they have a dream team working with them, including Sarah True of True Event and Jennie Fresa Beauty Library–isn’t Stephanie’s look gorgeous? She stopped by the Beauty Library on her way to Providence! (And WAIT til you see her shoes–I’ll add more images next week! Happy weekend, all!

Married: Angela + Doug (sneak peek)

May 30, 2011

I know, I know, I had no plans to post clients here since my new blog is well underway, but since we aren’t launched yet and I have this delicious couple to share, here I am.

I’ll save the story for the full reveal, but in the meantime, here’s a peek at Angela and Doug’s gorgeous wedding in Sandwich, MA yesterday–a gorgeous Cape Cod summer day–in May. You never know what you will get in New England!

Happy love, Angela and Doug!

March 9, 2011

I was all set to post Erin and Dan here and then I have an engagement session with Julie and Seth to share and then I had a great event at Jonathan Edwards Winery last week to share and…..I’m ready to move on from these blog confines. I am hard at work on a new blog and a new website, with some excellent creative partners, and I think it is time to take a hiatus until I can fill my gorgeous new blog with those images.

I have a few more tidbits to share here this month while I wait for the new blog to be revealed, but I am going to hold off on those client photos for now.

See you soon!

Erin + Dan on Style Me Pretty today!

March 3, 2011

Hooray for Erin and Dan! Their beautiful story was published today on Style Me Pretty, and all of us  involved with the day are cheering that Erin’s lovely vision is now being shared far and wide for her fans to see!

I can’t wait to share more of my favorites, but I’ll wait till you’ve had a chance to enjoy the gallery on Style Me Pretty. Starting tomorrow, I’ll do some posts sharing some of my favorite moments of the sparkly day on the Stonington shoreline. I’m sure Erin is preparing a wedding recap, too, so check in at Sparkle & Hay for the full story from Mrs. Sparkle herself, coming soon!
